Kiss drabble and Cold SSS

shadowA drabble and an SS. I'm not sure what I did to Naru... Please don't kill me. ^^;;

Mai stared suspiciously at the teacup her boss set on her desk. He never made her tea except when she was very upset or when he did something to upset her. And neither have happened recently.
The cup sat untouched. “Naru...?”
Intuitively, she was on to him. But she was sitting and had nowhere to run.
His fingers brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Mai's eyes went wide as he bent down and his lips touched hers – gently at first, but soon becoming more demanding. Naru smiled faintly when he finally released her.
“Your tea's getting cold.”
C - Cold, Noll and Gene,yamikakyuu
length: 1426 words
"Noll, are you alright?!" Madoka asked as she ran into the infirmary at the Platt Lab at the British SPR. She'd heard that the young genius had collapsed at work and been taken there.
The young, sweet-looking boy who'd been resting in one of the beds opened his dark eyes and looked at the woman who'd just come in. He slowly sat up in bed and smiled happy to see her. "Madoka, I'm sorry to have worried you so much. I'm fine," he said.
Madoka stopped in her tracks surprised. She'd been told Oliver had been taken to the infirmary sick, but any way she looked at things, the one in bed was Oliver's twin brother, Eugene.
"Gene?" she asked surprised. "I'd heard Noll was here. If I'd known it was you, I would've brought you a sweet," she said smiling.
The boy cocked his head to one side slightly before shaking his head. "That's okay, I'm really not that fond of sweet things," he said. "But is it okay for you to be here like this? Aren't you really busy right now?"
Madoka chuckled softly. "That's okay. I can catch up on that stuff later. You're more important. How are you feeling?" she asked. Madoka began moving towards the bed. But just as she was about to sit down in the chair set beside the bed, footsteps could be heard approaching at a run from outside.
They both turned to look towards the entrance just as a young boy, virtually identical to the one lying in bed, burst into the room.
"Noll! Are you alright?! I heard you passed out at the lab!" Gene exclaimed as he came running in. He stopped at the foot of the bed panting heavily.
Noll smiled, "I'm fine, Gene," he said.
Gene froze as he stared at his brother. "Noll... you've got a fever, don't you? And a high one at that," he said surprised.
Madoka stared at the newcomer then at the boy in bed confused. As far as she could tell, there were now two Genes in the room.
"Noll, did you say anything to Madoka?" Gene demanded. "I swear, every time you do this, you make trouble for me!"
Noll looked at Gene confused. "We didn't get to talk about anything. Right, Madoka?"
Madoka nodded slowly. They'd barely had a chance to exchange greetings before Gene arrived.
Gene looked at the two suspiciously when a thought suddenly came to mind. "Aa! Madoka, did he tell you that he doesn't like sweets?!" Gene asked frantically.
Madoka looked surprised at Gene's question. "He did, but is that important?"
"Madoka, that's *Noll* who doesn't like sweets! Not me!" Gene said desperately. "Please, don't get us mixed up on that point!"
"G-gene?" she asked confused.
"Noll gets this way when he has a fever. I think his brain shuts down or something... Um, that didn't come out right. It makes it sound like you don't need a brain to be me. Umm, how can I put it... Uhh, well, *anyway* Noll gets like this when he's sick. People have a hard enough time telling us apart at the best of times, but when he's sick, it's even worse!" Gene exclaimed.
Madoka looked surprised. "You mean... Noll's almost exactly like you when he's got a cold?"
Gene nodded emphatically. "But even though he seems like me, his tastes are still his own. He doesn't like sweets, but I do! The last time this happened, we didn't have dessert at home for almost a month, because Luella thought *neither* of us liked sweet things!"
Madoka choked back a laugh at the devastated look on Gene's face as he remembered that desolate month of no sweets.
She looked at Noll who was lying in bed watching them and saw that his cheeks were slightly flushed. Madoka reached out and put her hand on his forehead and looked startled: his fever was quite high.
Gene looked at Noll annoyed. "Noll, you know how things end up when we get sick outside of home. If you weren't feeling well, you shouldn't have come to the lab today!"
Noll shook his head. "I'm sorry, Gene. The latest issue of a journal was supposed to arrive today, and I was really looking forward to reading it," he said apologetically. "I didn't think it was that bad."
Madoka stared at Noll; not only did he look contrite, he looked like he might even start crying if Gene got any angrier with him.
"Um, Gene..." she began trying to find a way to deflect the older boy.
Gene glanced at Madoka.
"If Noll ends up like you when he's sick... what happens to you?" she asked curiously. "You don't end up like him, do you?"
Gene looked startled. "Who'd end up like this stick-in-the-mud idiot scientist?!" he asked indignantly.
Madoka cocked her head to one side. "Okay, so you don't end up like him," she said slowly. "But when you were angry with Noll, you said something about how things end up 'when we get sick outside of home'. So, what happens to you? It sounds like something equally drastic happens."
Gene looked away but didn't answer while Noll suddenly burst out laughing in bed.
Madoka stared at Noll stunned. "N-noll??"
Noll couldn't stop laughing. But Gene refused to meet Madoka's gaze when she looked to him for an explanation.
"Ahahah, Gene doesn't end up like me, but he doesn't like talking about what happens either," Noll said amused. He had tears in his eyes from laughing so much.
"Noll, don't you dare tell!" Gene shouted.
"G-gene?!" Madoka alternated between looking at the two boys.
Noll smiled at Madoka. "Fortunately, we usually don't come down with a cold at the exact same time, so when one of us hits rock bottom, the other can cover," he explained.
"......So what do you do when Gene gets sick?" Madoka asked slowly. She'd never seen Noll be so talkative before and couldn't help wanting to take advantage of that.
"Umm... If he goes anywhere, I go after him," Noll answered evasively.
"Noll, don't you dare say any more than that," Gene said warningly. He looked upset that Noll said anything at all.
Madoka looked confused. His answer still didn't make sense to her.
Noll laughed at her confused look and couldn't hold back any longer. "Gene's a bit of a cry baby when he gets sick and has a tendency to run away," Noll finally explained. "So, it's my job to go find him and bring him back."
"Noll!" Gene yelled.
Noll looked at Gene amused. "She's going to find out sooner or later," he said shrugging. "After all, it's been quite some time since you last disappeared. Besides, she's not the one who has to deal with you clinging to them 24/7 when you're sick."
"I'm not that bad..." Gene said sulking.
Noll couldn't help laughing.
"Besides, you don't have any headaches to deal with after I get over that phase." Gene looked at Noll aggrievedly. "People always get us completely mixed up after you're sick. At least that doesn't happen to you when I'm sick."
Gene sighed as he moved next to Madoka and put his hand to Noll's forehead. He winced when he realised how high his brother's fever was. "Noll, it's going to take a bit before Martin can come get us, so try to get some sleep," he said a little worried.
"Gene?" Noll asked surprised.
Gene smiled at his younger brother reassuringly as he took Noll's hand. He put his other hand against Noll's hot forehead. "It's okay. You don't get sick that often, so it always surprises me when it happens."
Noll closed his eyes at the cool touch of Gene's hand on his forehead. He was feeling hot, so it felt wonderful. And while he didn't want to be rude to Madoka, he had to admit he was feeling very tired.
Gene glanced over to Madoka. "Madoka, could you please get something for Noll's fever?"
"Hm? Ah, yeah. I'll see what I can find," she answered uncertainly.
Gene smiled and called out a 'thank you' as she left the room.
'Are you alright?' Gene asked as he glanced down at his brother. His concern vibrated across the telepathic link the two shared.
'Tired,' Noll replied.
Gene squeezed Noll's hand reassuringly. 'Go to sleep. I'll be right here beside you.'
''Kay. G'night.' Noll thought as he was slowly pulled down into sleep.
'G'night.' Gene thought. 'Sweet dreams.'
And with that, I think I'll call it a night. :P
